ABOUT US
The College was established in 1985 by a small group of parents as a ministry of Rockingham Baptist Church, to provide an education of high academic standards that is based on:
- An acceptance of the Lordship of Christ
- An acceptance of the Bible as the revealed Word of God as defined in the Statement of Faith of the College
The College aims to foster self-discipline in the learner while teaching them to accept the discipline of the Church which the body of Christ, to be obedient to their parents and to obey the laws of the Government.
Further, the College aims to develop the individuality of the learner and stresses the function of the learner as a member of the Body of Christ and the community.
The College aims to train the learner in the moral and ethical standards of the Bible as interpreted in the teaching of the New Testament and develop the learner's creative and critical abilities.
In addition, the College aims to encourage co-operation rather than competition and to foster the development of the gifts, skills and abilities of the learner for the service of Jesus Christ in the Body of Christ and the community.
FOUR SCHOOLS
Maranatha Christian College is a College of 4 school sections; The School of Early Learning, The Junior School, The Middle School and The Senior School.
Each school operates under the direction of a Head of School (HoS), with the College being led by a College Executive comprising the Principal, Assistant Principal (Teaching & Learning), Assistant Principal (Student Services) and the Business Manager.
Being a Christian College, Maranatha believes that the framework for all it does must be a recognition that a truly balanced education addresses the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical needs of a person. All staff are committed Christians trained in integrating Biblical truth into the curriculum.

The Middle School years are an exciting time in a student’s life, the world is opening up and no longer revolves just around the family. The peer group becomes very important too and the Middle School seeks to provide an environment where each student feels valued and supported as a person.
The school strives for academic excellence within a framework that caters for each student’s strengths and weaknesses. In addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Society and Environment and Bible and Christian Studies, students begin to experience opportunities to study a number of interesting options across a diverse curriculum.

WHAT WE TEACH ABOUT GOD
We are a non denominational Christian School that teaches students that both the seen (physical) and unseen (spiritual) universe is the work of the loving Creator God. We teach students that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are a historically accurate account of the history and moral condition of this world. We teach students that God so loved us he sent his Son the Lord Jesus Christ to be our saviour by dying on a cross and rising again to new life. We teach students the importance of understanding that true meaning and purpose in life only comes from accepting God’s forgiveness and living in obedience to his laws.
Maranatha Christian College is a learning environment where Biblical Values & Beliefs (A Christian World View) are not a distinct and separate entity in the curriculum but an integrated element of all subjects and activities with-in the school community.
Biblical Values & Beliefs need to be inserted into the curriculum and deliberately planned for by teachers in lesson programmes. Whereas many schools have 8 key learning areas based around a secular world view, at Maranatha we purposefully integrate a Christian world view of beliefs and values into the standard 8 key learning areas and then add a ninth area – that of Bible and Christian Living.
The following diagram explains this approach.

"By Christ all things were created: things in Heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."
Colossians 1:16-17

DISCIPLINE IN THE COLLEGE
We have a whole College approach to discipline. We encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour and therefore accept the consequences of that behaviour. We hope to establish a code of behaviour among them that is both responsible and purposeful.
Self discipline in the children is to be encouraged and the use of positive reinforcement for good, acceptable behaviour is promoted. All secondary students are required to sign a copy of the College's Code of Behaviour signifying their agreement to uphold these rules as best they can.
By enrolling their child, parents are demonstrating their support of the College in its aims and objectives and have agreed to uphold in every way possible the College’s authority and right to administer appropriate discipline in accordance with the policies of the College. There is a 5 step process for behaviour management outlined in our Junior, Middle and Senior School handbooks. View the College's Code of Behaviour and Policy on Bullying here.
ROCKINGHAM BAPTIST CHURCH
Maranatha Christian College is a ministry of the Rockingham Baptist Church. The church supports the College and families in prayer and also supports with Pastoral Care.
If you are not already attending a church you are welcome to come along on a Sunday morning at 9.30am or evening at 6.00pm. Crèche and Sunday School are provided.
Regular church activities include; Craft with crèche, Ladies Bible Study, Telos (over 55 years) and Adult Home Groups. Home Groups are where small groups of people get together once a week to encourage each other and learn more about the Bible.
As well as providing our students with a fully functional Church, the building also serves a dual role as a large, full carpeted multi-purpose School Hall. This is an area where students study drama, music, gymnastics and where our weekly School Assembly is held.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HOME AND COLLEGE
The College seeks to build close relationships between parents, staff and students. Families are encouraged to support the Parent and Friends Committee and are invited to be involved in various activities throughout the year. Parents and Grandparents are welcome to volunteer for parent help in the classroom.
Written reports indicating your child's progress are issued at the end of each semester for Years 1 - 12. Teachers are available at any time, by appointment, to discuss any areas of concern.
Weekly newsletters keep parents informed of upcoming events, activities and interesting bits of information.
Parents are also welcome to attend the assemblies each Friday at 8.30 am.
