MUSIC
At Maranatha Christian College our comprehensive music program is structured to suit the developmental needs and interests of each age group.
Years 1-5
In the lower primary school music lessons are fun and interesting! Learning and having fun go hand in hand as the students focus on singing, recorder and glockenspiel programs as well as percussion and music appreciation in its various forms.
Years 6-9
The middle school lessons are vibrant and relevant to the modern day, up and coming teenagers. The hands on approach is encouraged by the grouping of students in small bands that learn to play popular music. Well equipped rehearsal rooms with up to date instruments and PA system encourage the students to do their best. The focus of learning is on the Arts in our society incorporating various genres, styles and instrumental areas.
Years 10-12
Our senior school now offers the Certificate 1 in Music Industry. (Foundation) Maranatha strives to provide excellence in education for life and this course is designed to provide students with broad based knowledge and the skills required to begin a career in the music industry. Students will be able to choose from a wide variety of sectors, including performance, composition, business and technology.
Musically gifted students are offered the chance to progress further with their talents in the form of an after school program. This program incorporates a primary choir, senior primary band, a middle school band and also a senior school band.
Instrumental tuition
At Maranatha we offer students the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments, during school hours, on campus from experience tutors. These include vocal, drum, guitar, bass, keyboard, brass and woodwind tuition.
