Maranatha has a strong commitment to ensuring all of our students are able to function effectively as consumers of information technology in an increasingly technological society.
Students administer knowledge, skills, experience and resources in order to develop technological solutions that are designed to meet the growing needs of individuals, societies and environments. Students become innovative, adaptable and reflective as they select and use appropriate materials, information, systems and a series of actions to create solutions. These contemplate the short and long-term affects on societies and environments.
Maranatha offers both TEE and Non-TEE in Applied Information Technology:
Computing for personal use – whether it be to educate, inform or entertain, is a vital part of being a citizen in the 21st century. This unit will give students the chance to develop marketable skills in IT that will stand them in good stead for future employment. The focus is on Personal IT and the types of applications needed to write job applications, complete essays, promote events, educate, communicate with and entertain people. The full range of “Office” type applications along with graphics, communications and entertainment packages will be explored.
At TEE, the units emphasises the use of ICT for Digital Media. Students will be given the opportunity to develop skills in the manipulation of digital graphics, scanners, digital cameras and simple straight line animations. In the second semester students will have the opportunity to study how these technologies are used in business and apply them to simple small office situations.
